It's a Wrap... Anna+Daniel ~ Wedding

Just a few more...of the reception this time.
I had so much fun capturing candids of family, friends and food!

I have to brag on the food for a minute...because my Aunt Jen catered it and it was the best! She's been doing this for a while and it's a blessing to many. She's very modest, but obviously talented.
"It was SO delicious!" and "I can't stop eating this!" ...I overheard this over and over...AND over as I walked around taking pictures. When I snuck into the kitchen at the end of the evening to say goodbye, the grooms father came in to thank her. After a huge bear hug (cuz that's just what you want to do when you're near her!)..he told her that friends had raved over the food- that it was some of the best they'd ever eaten. I know from personal experience they were NOT stretching the truth!

Go ahead- take a peek and try not to salivate too much... I spared you from having to look at the uber-good stuff (you know- thick cuts of beef and other things). I'm kind that way. But trust me. It was oh-so-delish.

The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed. Much laughter, bubbles occasionally floating through the air, prompts for the bride & groom to kiss, the tinkling of glasses & hum of conversation. Just how a reception should be, I think.

Aren't they adorable??

And last but not least, one of my favorites. It's totally out of focus and random but I love it. The groomsmen distributed bottles of sparkling cider to all of the tables before the toasts began and they were BRISK about the task! I like that motion in the picture...

Thanks for visiting!

Anna+Daniel ~ Wedding, part deux

More lovelies from Anna and Daniel's wedding...ceremony & just after (the just afters, by the way, are my FAVORITE: The BEST light, a happy couple surrounded by family and friends- a truly joyous time of congratulations and best wishes).

Beautiful music..made all the more so because it was performed by dear friends of the couple...

They saw each other beforehand, but you'd never know it, the way he looked at her as she walked up the aisle...

Proud!

After three years of homeschooling my children, we enrolled them in a local private school this year. I loved teaching them at home, and we grew so close! But, the littles began wondering, out loud, what it would be like to be in a classroom environment again. They wanted to give it a go this year and see how they liked it, so we began researching the schools in the area; found one we were all excited about and got them enrolled!

Their first day of school was a little bittersweet for me. I was a bundle of nerves, hoping they'd transition smoothly & instantly love it. For the most part, they did. But my youngest had a rocky few minutes the first two mornings. Tears rolled down her little cheeks and pleadings for me to stay with her eyes & her lips. Oh, my heart just BROKE! She had been SO excited and then once she was at her desk, the newness hit her. The reality that she was on her own for the day, without knowing anyone or how things would transpire caused momentary panic and tears. She was soothed & kissed and made it, but boy, was it tough for us both to let go!! By day three she was a-ok (thank goodness!).

And THIS kid...my sweet, quiet, sensitive boy. He breezed into his classroom, sat down & was just ready for whatever! I was SO proud of him! Picking him up after the first day, he kept sighing & saying how much he loved school, his teacher, the classroom... It was AWE.SOME!

I had been worried to see/hear their response to their first day but when I arrived, there they were, two smiling faces- ready to spill all the exciting details! What an immense relief & blessing! And so we begin this adventure, together but apart. We're all going to learn A LOT!

Anna+Daniel ~ Wedding

I've taken far too long to share these with you!
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in July..exceptionally warm, clear skies, an occasional breeze.
The wedding took place in a sweet old church in the country, with a charming balcony & lovely light.

Daniel & Anna were calm, cool and collected and a complete breeze to photograph!
It was an honor to be asked to capture their special day; to share in the joining of these two special families.

Savannah+Brandon ~ Wedding

My beautiful cousin was married this past weekend and I was blessed to be asked to capture their special day! It was a sweet ceremony in the church she was raised in, witnessed by cherished family and friends. Savannah's smile lights up the room.. she's got a great sense of humor & a weak spot for her nieces and nephews. And it's pretty obvious Brandon is in deep smit with this girl...which is, you know, kind of an unspoken requirement for marriage!

It was a relaxed morning; the bride & her bridesmaids doing each other's makeup and hair, listening to Jack Johnson & sipping coffees brought in by a thoughtful brother.

I personally LOVED seeing Savannah & her sisters (again, all my cousins) interact. As I looked through the lens of my camera, I would catch a glimpse of them as I remembered them from years ago as little girls. I got a little misty a few times- just in amazement of time and how it's flown by. And so..I savored these moments on this day all the more.

They had a friend who offered to chauffer them from the church in a vintage Rolls Royce..who wouldn't jump on THAT?! It was a beauty.

Savannah and Brandon...thank you for asking me to be a part of your wedding day. It was an honor! I pray your life together will be a long one, putting God first in all that you do.
